Layering of Space and Mirroring of Perception: On the Poetic Reconfiguration of Tree 25
In the creative process of Tree 25, what I seek is not an objective representation of the natural landscape, but rather the transformation of internal perception, time, and emotion into a spatial practice upon the canvas. To me, a landscape is never a static object; instead, it is a threshold where the artist’s spiritual realm and the physical world interpenetrate.
In terms of visual structure, I deliberately disrupt the traditional order of single-point perspective, introducing a compositional logic of "spatial juxtaposition" and "deconstructed mirror-imaging." The white section cutting horizontally through the middle of the canvas acts like a fault line of perception, dividing the composition into a layering of multiple spatiotemporalities. The cluster of trees below and the prominent tree on the right echo one another, creating a spatial dimension akin to a reflection in water, yet remaining distinctly independent. In the context of art theory, this layout represents my spatial reconfiguration of "multidimensional perception"—I rationally dismantle and misplace gazes from different moments, fragments of memory, and immediate awareness, rearranging them onto a singular plane.
The floating dots of varying sizes scattered across the canvas represent my attempt to "semiotize" objective forms. They blur the boundaries between snowflakes, raindrops, and subconscious bubbles, drifting within the blue-green tones and mottled textures. On a rational level, these dots serve as symbolic elements that break compositional balance and guide visual flow; on an emotional level, they metaphorically imply the passage of time and the flickering of perception.
Yet, behind these calm theoretical layouts and spatial deconstructions, Tree 25 ultimately returns to a profound emotional weight. As the wind and cold permeate the withered, interlocking branches, the density of the lines and the impasto of the oil paint speak of an introspective, subtle state of being. Hidden within the cool blues, greens, and earthy browns is my most authentic sense of chill, solitude, and tenderness when facing nature and the self. This is a rational visual orchestration, and equally, the most honest poetry I leave to the world.
